We are looking for summer interns to work with our material and/or document events.
Over the years, Sarai has built a rich archive of field notes, government reports, images, films and video footage, audio collections, film and trade periodicals, posters, comics and newspaper clippings through various initiatives, projects and fellowship programmes, such as Publics and Practices in the History of the Present(PPHP), Cybermohalla (neighbourhood media labs), the Independent Fellowship Programme (2002-2007), and the Social Media Fellowships. Summer interns will be required to work on the audio and visual collections at the Sarai archive. Internships aim to produce a complete thematic and material map of these collections – catalogues, digitised documents, and annotations. We are also looking for interns who can work with Sarai’s archival collections linked to contemporary art.
Interns may also help document public events and discussions, so we are looking for people with demonstrable writing skills. Former Sarai interns have become prominent academics, artists, lawyers and filmmakers.
A modest stipend will be offered for the duration of the internships. A presentation will be required at the end of the internship period. We are seeking a commitment of two and a half months in the summer. Interested candidates should send a CV and a statement of purpose no longer than two pages to dak@sarai.net with the subject line: ‘Archival Internships’ by March 1, 2025. Please note that only successful applicants will be contacted by March 15th.
